The Component Model is a new proposal being worked on within the W3C WebAssembly Community Group that defines a standard, portable, lightweight, finely-sandboxed, cross-language, compositional module which is layered on top of the existing Core WebAssembly specification and serves as the foundation for other proposed non-browser system interfaces (WASI). This talk will present several high-level motivating use cases for the Component Model, give an overview of the technical design, and describe the current “Preview 2” and upcoming “Preview 3” releases.
